Yorkshire Radio
From Waccoepedia
Yorkshire Radio (aka "Radio Bates" on WACCOE) broadcasts on DAB digital radio across Yorkshire, most of Lincolnshire and the North Midlands. The station also broadcasts on the internet and on Sky Digital. Full commentary on all Leeds United games, including senile ramblings from expert analysts Peter Lorimer and Norman Hunter, is only available on the DAB feed of Yorkshire Radio or through the subscription service LUTV.
Using equipment purchased from a car boot sale outside Chelsea FC's Stamford Bridge ground, Yorkshire Radio offers a diet of excruciating Dad Rock combined with sports news. It features completely unbiased news and views on how brilliantly everything is going at Leeds United and there are regular hard-hitting interviews with Ken Bates (aka "Mr Chairman") in which the awkward questions of the day are rigorously avoided.
Oddly, Leeds United somehow managed to get itself into a considerable amount of debt to a station which, presumably, pays for the privilege of broadcasting exclusive content relating to the club. It was reported during the 2007 administration process that Leeds United owed Yorkshire Radio £480,000, a fact revealed only in the final voting at the creditors' meeting and not in the initial statement of debts issued by administrator KPMG.
Although Yorkshire Radio have only been in business for two years, they already have three advertisers. These are Safestyle Windows, Alamo Rentacar and some flats in Fax.
Yorkshire Radio's studios are based at Lowfields Road, behind the east stand of Leeds United's Elland Road stadium.
In March 2008, it was announced that they would be providing exclusive live coverage of Leeds United's home and away fixtures.
